It has a very unique canopy zip-line adventure tour that we found both interesting and fun!
Las Tablas: We intersected a big festival in Las Tablas, but it took a special effort to get there since all the buses were full transporting people from all over Panama to the event (see Karen on the floor of mini-van below; we fit at least 24 people in this van). It was an incredible experience and we think we were the only "tourists" there. There was a night-time candle-light march (pictures were not possible) where people walked down the street holding candles that lasted from 10pm until past midnight. We estimated at least 100,000 people walking through the streets of this small town; incredible considering the towns normal population was probably under 5000.
Boquete: We loved this small town in the cloud forest of Panama. Wildlife and coffee were abundant. Many people must feel the same because we met lots of people looking for property there.
Bocas del Toro: Our last stop were the Caribbean islands of Bocas del Toro near the boarder of Costa Rica. Somewhere in between the developed resorts of Las Perlas and the undeveloped infrastructure of San Blas lies Bocas del Toro. It has a nice laid back small Caribbean seaside town feel with just enough night life to keep you interested. While we were here, we went out on a snorkeling trip, rented bikes and rode to a remote beach (we actually tried to cross the island via bike, but revised our plan once out in the extreme heat and humidity), saw the famous red frog which only lives on one beach, and spent every night at the same local bar to have a beer and watch the sunset. It was great.
