The Outback:  The "real" Australia.  After visiting Port Douglas and the Great Barrier Reef, the "red center" of Australia seemed like a different planet.  While definitely an extreme harsh environment, it also supports has a huge amount of life.

Below we lumped pictures together from Uluru (Ayers Rock), Kings Canyon, our overnight train ride on "The Gahn" and  Tennant Creek where we visited our friends Kim and Chris (and their boys Jakob and Zakary), who have been living in this harsh place for almost a year!  Visit their web site Frogs in the Toilet (see links) for some real outback tales... and yes, real frogs actually live in their toilet!!
